What is Golden Share?

These are homes which are an approved affordable housing tenure within the Council’s Affordable Housing Policy. They have a simple price cap for this sale and for all subsequent sales in perpetuity. The property will be sold at 80% of Open Market Value (OMV) making them affordable to those in housing need who could not normally afford to purchase a similar home of its size in their local area.

The process is similar to a market sale, and owners own 100% of the property.

Life Insurance - Do You Need it?

Could your children, partner or relatives survive without your income? Would they have enough to cover the mortgage or other living expenses? Life insurance pays out a lump sum or monthly payment to your family in the event of your death.

On Friday 25th October, we took part in the #MacmillanCoffeeMorning, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. Our team made some extremely tasty treats including - fruit scones, cupcakes, Mars bar cake, blueberry muffins, brookies, banana loaf, fresh fruit smoothies… the list goes on… there was LOADS.

A MASSIVE thank you to everyone that came into the office on Friday – clients and staff. Through our dress down Friday, Spot the Cake sweepstake and the generous donations for our staff’s home-baking, we raised an amazing £200!

Global Treatment – Getting the best treatment from around the world

With serious illnesses like cancer and heart conditions becoming all too common, it’s only natural that you would want the most accurate diagnosis possible and access to the very best advice and treatment.

Life after cancer - considering the true costs

This blog isn’t to scare you. This topic isn’t something you want to think about (none of us do). This blog is however to make you aware that it is important to be protected – important for you and your family to be protected.

  • An estimated 2 in 5 people in Scotland will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime.1
  • The number of people living with cancer in the UK in 2015 has increased by almost half a million in the last five years.2

The table below shows up-to-date statistics on the most common cancers in Scotland.3

Our visit to CHAS at Robin House – Spring Clean

Yesterday, we visited CHAS’s Robin House Hospice at Balloch to help revitalise their gardens. Having now been to the gardens it is clear that they have done a fantastic job! The gardens are peaceful, well maintained and possess a stunning view but it is the little things such as the Snow White and 7 Dwarfs statues, frog wellies used as plant pots, and the wind chimes that give it the personal touch… we even spotted a baby rabbit residing in the gardens.

We also met some of the many volunteers who help out at Robin house ensuring that the gardens are well maintained and evidently do a fantastic job.

Worrying is like putting an umbrella up when it isn’t raining…

Recently, one of our protection consultants told me about a case that she had been working on.

The client had come to us in 2012 to arrange a mortgage and was advised to consider her options in regards to life protection. Maybe she felt she didn’t need it, being in her early 30s, like most of us thinking that it’ll be something we may need in the future. But after some consideration she decided to take out a life and critical illness policy.

Breaking the Chain

More than one benefit to sticking to your New Year’s Resolution

Twin brothers, same looks, same clothes, same job, and even the same New Year’s resolution – but a different outcome. Problem is New Year’s resolutions are seen to be ambitious and people are pessimistic about them – ‘I’ll never stick to it’, ‘I’ll last for a week’ etc…. But maybe another reason to stick to your resolution will motivate you.

I want to show you that you really could save money by sticking to your New Year’s resolution.

App-py New Year

Lifetime Planning have set a 2015 mission – to try and save our clients and the Lifetime Planning team money – as a way of giving back to our clients and team.

My first step towards completing this mission was to research the saturated app market. With apps widely used for convenience it seemed like a good place to start. So I tested a few apps that claim to be good for saving money.

On the Sunday 5th October, after months of training and determination, 20 members of our team took part in the Great Scottish Run 10K for CHAS (Children’s Hospice Association Scotland) aiming to raise as much money as possible.

Finally after all sponsorship money and gift aid was added together, we can announce that we raised a MASSIVE £5,016.62!! We’d like to thank everyone that took the time to donate and support. A big thank you to everyone that came down to watch and spur us on, on the day.
